Fans have started creating custom maps with the Baldur's Gate 3 modding toolkit.
With the release of Patch 7 in Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios unlocked the official modding toolkit to the community.
The developers let players create their own mods with the toolkit, but they claimed that it wouldn't be possible to create entire levels with it.
However, in a matter of just two days, one particular modder has already managed to do the impossible.
Journey To Avernus
Baldur's Gate 3's own version of hell, Avernus, plays a big role in the lore and in the stories of two origin characters. Despite all that, we never got to see the region before, which left many fans disappointed.
Now, a modder posted a video of his own custom-made Avernus, using the modding toolkit.
As you can see, the area is coming along nicely, though it is still a work in progress. The red color is an obvious must for Avernus and the river of blood flowing through the area, adds a great touch of detail to the map.
It's surely only a matter of time before modders use these maps to create new campaigns.
In another post, the user stated:
It seems like the unlocked editor is very promising for custom campaigns! I hope that means we will eventually get some full-on user-made DLC or new campaigns, much like there are in the Skyrim modding scene.
It will be exciting to see the developments of all this fan-made content around Baldur's Gate 3!
