Elon Musk sues Twitch for alleged advertising boycott

Because he thinks that Twitch doesn't place advertising on X due to a conspiracy, Musk tries to sue the streaming platform.

Not his behavior but a conspiracy is the reason for the declining ad revenue on X (formerly Twitter) – that's at least what Elon Musk thinks. And because of that, he wants to sue Twitch.

Recently, a rumor circulated that Stephen King had been banned from Twitter/X after referring to Elon Musk as "the First Lady of the United States." However, it quickly became clear that this never actually happened.

According to Stephen King himself, the only reason it didn’t happen is that he hadn’t thought of the joke himself in the first place. Nonetheless, he’s lost any interest in being on Twitter/X.

But there’s no need for false rumors when X CEO Elon Musk so consistently manages to maneuver himself into absurd situations all by himself.

The latest spectacle in Musk’s series of questionable actions is his attempt to sue Twitch, claiming they are part of a conspiracy to withhold advertising from his platform.

Drastically declining ad revenue on X

Since Musk's takeover, Twitter/X has been struggling with declining ad revenue. This was largely a consequence of his behavior and management style. After firing dozens of employees and reinstating questionable accounts, some advertisers were put off and decided to stop advertising on the platform.

In true Musk fashion, he responded to the lost advertisers with the remark, “go f*** yourself,” essentially validating the companies' decisions.

Musk believes in a plot

Back in August, Musk had already filed a lawsuit against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) for similar reasons. The initiative aimed to enhance digital safety and eliminate harmful content from the online world.

To achieve this, they wanted to pressure social media platforms where such content could be posted and spread. Unsurprisingly, a platform like X – known for opening the floodgates to misinformation and often incendiary content – became a target for the initiative. Although GARM was dissolved due to the high legal costs incurred by Musk’s lawsuit, the X CEO continues to insist that illegal agreements were made to deprive his company of billions in ad revenue.

Musk's true goals

Experts consider the lawsuit itself to be far from promising but believe that Musk's true goal is to damage the reputation of the companies involved and disrupt the advertising industry's economy as a whole.

What do you think about the lawsuit? What are your opinions on Musk's behavior?
