Fortnite's most missed feature finally returns

Fortnite fans, rejoice! The much-anticipated return of Siphon is here, and it’s coming back with a twist. Announced at the FNCS Global Championship 2024, Siphon Trials are set to test different versions of Siphon in Ranked Battle Royale, Ranked Zero Build, and various tournaments.

What is Siphon? Siphon is a gameplay mechanic in Fortnite that rewards players with health or shield for each elimination they secure. This feature has been a fan favorite, adding an extra layer of strategy and excitement to the game.

The Siphon Trials The Siphon Trials are designed to explore various versions of Siphon to determine the best fit for future tournaments. Each week, the settings will change, allowing players to experience different configurations and provide feedback.

Here’s the schedule for the upcoming trials:

  • Week 1 (starts today): 40 Effective Health
  • Week 2 (starts October 1): 50 Effective Health
  • Week 3 (starts October 8): 25 Effective Health
  • Week 4 (starts October 15): 75 Health Over Time (No Shield)
  • Week 5 (starts October 22): 50 Health (No Shield)
  • Week 6 (starts October 29): 25 Health, 25 Shield

Epic Games will be closely monitoring player feedback throughout these trials to determine which version of Siphon provides the most balanced and exciting gameplay.

Siphon in Ranked Battle Royale and Zero Build

During the Siphon Trials, both Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build will feature the active Siphon settings. However, the newly introduced Ranked Reload mode will not include Siphon. To align with the tournament experience, these modes will also exclude certain gameplay features for balance and performance reasons.

All scheduled Battle Royale and Zero Build tournaments during the Siphon Trials will use the active version of Siphon. This means players can expect to gain health or shield with each elimination, adding a strategic element to competitive play.

The ultimate goal of these trials is to identify the version of Siphon that enhances gameplay the most. Once the trials conclude, the chosen version will be implemented in future Battle Royale and Zero Build tournaments.
