Ever since Overwatch 2 season 13 released, a few players have obtained red banners around their names, here is what they mean.
Overwatch 2 players logging into Competitive Play recently might have noticed a striking new addition: red banners displayed prominently around certain players’ BattleTags. This feature, introduced with Season 12's Competitive Drives event, serves as a bold marker of progress in the game’s newly implemented reward system. So, what do these red banners signify, and how can you get one? Let’s dive in.
What Are Competitive Drives in Overwatch 2?
Competitive Drives is a limited-time event that rewards players for grinding the Competitive Play mode. It encourages intense competition by allowing players to earn exclusive rewards through a Drive Meter system. The red banners—or Signatures—are part of this system, reflecting a player’s dedication and success during these events.
The first Competitive Drive event ran from Friday, October 4, at 8:00 AM PT to Monday, October 7, at 8:00 AM PT. The event will also recur in future seasons, offering players additional opportunities to climb the ranks and unlock rewards.
What do the red Banners represent?
The red banners, formerly known as Signatures, are customizable elements that showcase your accomplishments in Competitive Play. These Signatures act as visual status symbols and can appear in various parts of the game, such as:
- Name Cards
- Hero Portraits
- Play of the Game highlight intros
- Match introduction screens
How are red banners earned?
The red banners, or Signatures, are unlocked by earning Drive Points through Competitive Play during the Drive event. Here’s how it works:
- For each win, players gain Drive Points equal to 10x the Skill Rank (SR) percentage increase they receive from the victory.
- Losses deduct Drive Points, but at a reduced rate—5x the SR percentage lost.
- Hitting Drive Point thresholds ensures you won’t lose progress past that point.
