The hype is real: Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is, in fact, just around the corner. It's maybe the most immersive medieval RPG out there – here's everything we know about the sequel.
It's not just the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance that is absolutely massive, the rumors surrounding the highly anticipated sequel are as well. We finally have a release date, and it is not too far away – it has been announced for the 11th of February 2025!
In Kingdom Come, you play as Henry, a smith's son from Bohemia in the 15th century. After his hometown Skalitz is attacked by Cuman soldiers, Henry is one of only a few people to make it out of the massacre alive. That's where his journey begins, and it's up to the player to make of his life what you will. What's it going to be? Honorable knight? Sneaky assassin? Bohemian Robin Hood? Murder hobo?
Known for the high immersion the game offers and the lovingly-crafted, massive open world, players have been waiting for a possible sequel to the game since 2018 at this point. And if you are as excited as we are, you can find all the information and news about the sequel here.
Live Action series brings game characters to life
The first episode of a new live-action video series based on Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has debuted, starring Tom McKay and Luke Dale as the game's protagonists, Henry and Hans. Set in the historic Czech town of Kuttenberg, the series features a mix of humor and action. Over the course of four episodes, viewers can follow the duo as they explore the city's medieval charm while getting into mischief and challenges reminiscent of the game itself.
This first episode blends real-world footage with in-game visuals, showcasing iconic landmarks and giving us a taste of the adventure and camaraderie that awaits us in the upcoming game. Future episodes promise even more action, with a focus on combat and weaponry appropriate to the medieval setting.
Shaping Henry's Journey: A player-driven experience
Warhorse, the developers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are once again pushing the boundaries of historical realism. Their goal is to create a world that reflects the authentic Bohemia of the time, a living, breathing environment that feels like it would continue to function even without the player's presence.
While the game's setting is historically accurate, we are given freedom with the protagonist, Henry. Described as a "blank slate", Henry's character is shaped entirely by the player's choices. As a young man with no fixed worldview, his moral compass, personal growth and values are determined by our decisions.
This flexibility extends to the gameplay, where mastery of a weapon class gradually improves related skills and unlocks advanced combat techniques. It sounds like we can make Henry fit our playstyle from the first Kingdom Come, which would be pretty cool.
NPCs and quests will further enhance the character's abilities, allowing us to develop secondary skills such as distracting guard dogs or charming potential love interests. As in the first game, the world and NPCs react dynamically to Henry's actions. Dirty clothes will lead to different interactions with the townspeople, while committing crimes, even in secret, will increase the vigilance of guards and civilians – even if Henry isn't directly caught.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 release postponed to 2025 and new gameplay showcase
Warhorse Studios has announced a delay in the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Originally scheduled for a late 2024 release, the highly anticipated medieval RPG for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC will now be released on February 11, 2025. The delay was confirmed via the developer's official account on X. Of course, this is sad news for all of us waiting fans, but I'm actually glad that Warhorse is taking its time to finish the game.
Along with the release date update, Warhorse Studios has released a new 25-minute gameplay showcase that provides an in-depth look at the game. The footage highlights the game's strong ties to its predecessor, with familiar gameplay mechanics and a stunning medieval setting.

Seems like we can look forward to a game that stays true to the original Kingdom Come experience.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: New 'Saints and Sinners' trailer shows familiar faces
After we got the official reveal trailer, Warhorse has blessed us with a brand-new trailer for the Summer Game Fest 2024. The new 'Saints and Sinners' trailer shows us some familiar faces: first, the most important companion of good boys: Mutt! Our little dog we met in the DLC is still by our side.
It also looks like Hans Capon and Henry have strengthened their friendship and are living their lives to the fullest – including the ups (drinking, having fun with girls) and downs (standing in the pillory and fighting the bad guys). Henry also seems to have grown up, following in his father's footsteps and working as a blacksmith himself.
The new trailer really shows off the clever humor we all love about Kingdom Come. The sequel looks very promising, and we cannot wait to see more of the game.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will be packed with Dialogue
The highly anticipated sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises to be twice as large and more diverse than the original, delivering an even deeper and more immersive experience. In a recent update, Warhorse Studios revealed that Tom McKay, who reprises his role as protagonist Henry, has completed recording dialogue for the game. This monumental effort involved 508 hours in the recording booth over 127 sessions – amounting to three full weeks of spoken lines. Such dedication highlights the studio's commitment to crafting a richly detailed narrative. While it's unclear how much of this extensive recording will make it into the final game, one thing is certain: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is shaping up to be a sprawling adventure that we definitely don’t want to miss.
Henry returns and continues his mission with new friends and foes
According to an early leak, Henry will come to visit us once again! That's probably better than having a new protagonist, as the first game literally ended with Henry's mission still up in the air – he still had his revenge quest going and his sword missing when he rode into the sunset at the end of the first game.
Now, we officially get to see where his journey takes him from there. According to previous oopsies, we might even already know one thing or another about who he's going to meet on his new adventure.
The biggest (since deleted) hint regarding new characters is an Instagram post by bma_artists. In the post, they congratulate Richard Kiess on landing a voice acting gig as "the character 'John of Liechtenstein' in Kingdom Come 2."
The original post from May 2022 did not stay online for all that long, which is understandable, as this would have been the first confirmed source that KDC 2 is really happening. Considering how little news there were out there about the sequel at the time, deleting the post was the smartest move.
What could Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 be about?
Spoiler Warning for Kingdom Come Deliverance!
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is kind of infamous for not resolving the main plot line at the end of the game. To refresh your memory: Skalitz burns down, Henry's parents get killed, and the sword meant for Lord Radzig is stolen. The plot kicks off from that point, the end goal is always the same.
Revenge and the sword – the two main objectives throughout the whole game – are both still missing. After hours upon hours of questing, at the end, Henry still just rides off into the sunset without having gotten his revenge or the sword.
That sounds like sequel bait with extra steps in my book. It isn't even "bait" at this point. The thing is: at the end of the game, Henry is kind of a one-man-army. Starting out as a smith's son who doesn't even really know how to hold a sword was one of the greatest things about the first game, because along with Henry, the player had to start from zero and learn everything.
The learning curve in Kingdom Come: Deliverance was immense. It didn't even matter how often you played the game, Henry will still be kind of a loser in the beginning. Until you take the necessary steps to level him up and practice fighting, you're doomed to die over and over again if you try to take on groups of bandits or heavily armored Cumans.
The sequel needs to find a way to get players into the world slowly again. Henry being the force of nature he was at the end of the first game simply won't do to get back into it. A simple way to solve that problem would be the tried and true formula of having him injured in the beginning, forcing him to take a step back, heal and relearn his skills.
However, Warhorse will handle that – we've got utter faith in their capability to release another amazing, immersive game with Henry.
We'll keep you updated on any further news, as always!
